New laws goes into effect in NY

Starting today, the minimum wage is $12.50 an hour for statewide except Long Island and Westchester which will be $14.00. NYC will remain with $15 an hour.

The main one elected officials fought for is paid family leave. Starting today, all workers if eligible are allowed 12 weeks off at 67% of their weekly earnings. 

Non E-ZPass drivers receiving tolls by mail will increase the fare to 30%. A 15% increase will go for non-residents of NY with E-ZPass.

For airline travelers starting October 1, 2021, every passenger 18 or older must have a Real ID-compliant driver's license or other authorized form of identification, such as a passport.

Beginning February 9, 2021, companies (ie. Netflix, Hulu, Disney+) must notify customers at least 15 days in advance before auto-renewing service contracts.
